In January 2006 the National Cancer Institute (NCI) USA published a clinical announcement to clarify the role of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, based on a systematic review of randomised controlled trials.
A summary of the findings developed by the National Breast Cancer Centre (NBCC)* is provided below. The conclusions of this summary are based on evidence available to Oct 2006. New data are constantly emerging. The conclusions of this summary are likely to change with longer follow-up periods and in light of evidence from other trials.
